OTTAWA IN
2005 --- WHAT AWAITS YOU!
Casino in Gatineau, Quebec
At about 1 million inhabitants, Ottawa,
Ontario is Canada's national capital. Together with its sister city
across the Ottawa River of Gatineau, Quebec, Ottawa represents Canada's
fourth largest metropolitan area. As such it has direct connections to
numerous U.S. airports, to London UK (Heathrow), and good through
connections via Toronto or Montreal to other destinations.
Ottawa has numerous museums, art galleries, and parks befitting the
national captial of Canada. The downtown core features Parliament Hill,
whose Parliament Buildings provide the backdrop for the daily Changing
of the Guard, and its Peace Tower provides a stunning panorama of
Ontario and Quebec, and the Ottawa River. Both the River and the nearby
Rideau Canal feature boat excursions during the summer. Extensive
gardens along the banks of the Rideau complement its bike and
pedestrian paths. Also nearby is the Byward market with its stalls, and
the Sparks Street Mall, a pedestrian-only zone.

Like most Canadian cities, Ottawa has a
reputation as being safe and clean, frequently commented upon by
visitors. Frequent public transit and ample taxis mean that Gatineau,
Quebec with its French character are easily accessible, for those who
wish to try out their French. Gatineau can also be reached by foot over
two nearby bridges. Two major hotels (including the Westin) overlook
the Rideau Canal and Parliament Hill, and several others are nearby.
Dining experiences in both Ottawa and Gatineau include many excellent
restaurants. Those renting a car can explore the Gatineau area, the
Ottawa Valley and Rideau Lakes. Also, Montreal with all its flair is
only 200 km / 120 miles away, easily reached in a day trip.
