CPU Benchmarks

It is interesting and sometimes helpful to compare the relative power of various computers that are used in our department. I will look at some benchmark computations in Fortran, C, Splus, Maple and Mathematica. Also the amazing changes in speed and cost are illustrated in my APL benchmarks. For each benchmark I provide a detailed description, the code and results.
