Drop-in Academic Counselling hours for the remainder of August will be as follows:

Tuesday, August 14th 1:30 p.m.-3:00 p.m.

Wednesday, August 15th 10:00 a.m.-11:30 a.m.

Tuesday, August 21st 1:30 p.m.-3:00 p.m.

Thursday, August 23rd 1:30 p.m.-3:00 p.m.

There will be no counselling the week of August 27th.

All counselling will be in WSC 272 with Mrs. Mary Millard. All counselling is drop-in ONLY! No appointments necessary.

A Unique Learning Opportunity for Stats 1024 Students Starting this academic year, Stats 1024 students will have the opportunity of enrolling in a new blended course format. A blended learning course involves a combination of face-to-face and online interactions. Students will have all of their course material available online 24/7 and will attend a two-hour weekly lecture/tutorial. There will be online discussion boards where teaching assistants and the instructor will answer students' questions as well as regular office hours in person.This unique course offers the flexibility of a distance course with the benefits of interactions with the professor and teaching assistants normally provided by a traditional course.

Hal Varian makes the argument that with data in huge supply and statisticians in short supply, being a statistician has to be the 'really sexy job for the 2010s'.
